This is a 6 hour online continuing education course for massage therapists introducing the concept of massaging with your feet. Barefoot Deep Tissue Massage is a barefoot massage method using deep compression, friction, vibration/jostling and effleurage strokes performed with different parts of the therapist?s foot. This work can create a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage, or just help your client relax. Correct application will provide deep relaxation while stimulating the lymphatic and blood circulatory systems of the body, the parasympathetic nervous system and proprioceptors such as Golgi Tendon Organs and Spindle Cells. The broad, deep pressure from the foot allows you to comfortably release deep, stubborn trigger points with little or no discomfort to the client. Bars (or some other support system) are used above the head for support and balance when the patient is on a table and lubricant is applied to the body as needed. It would take at least 2 days to teach these moves in a live seminar, so online students are encouraged to practice even more.
