Massage for the Low Back, part 1 – Course Description.
(quadratus lumborum, longissimus, iliocostalis, multifidus, abdominal obliques, rectus abdominis, latissimus dorsi, rotatores, multifidus)
Low back pain is probably the most common reason people seek help from a massage therapist. This course helps massage therapists to identify the most common reasons people feel chronic low back pain and then effectively treat the problems for that pain.
In this workshop, you will:
1) Gain confidence in your palpation skills by locating important landmarks and muscles;
2) Learn how to spread, melt, & lengthen bound connective tissue;
3) Identify common fallacies relating to low back pain;
4) Identify the trigger points most likely to cause low back pain.
5) Demonstrate self treatment for common low back pain;
6) Utilize proper treatment techniques to alleviate the pain [including pin & stretch and MET];
7) Demonstrate the correct ways to utilize trigger point therapy.
